History
The Institute of Practical Cultural Studies and Art Management began its work as the Faculty of Humanities of the State Academy of Managerial Staff of Culture and Arts in September 1999.
Since 2004, the faculty included:
- Department of Theory, History and Practice of Culture
- Department of Management, Economics, and Law
- Department of Humanities and Social Sciences
- Department of Library Science and Information Technologies
Specialists were trained in the following areas: Organization Management; International Information; Sociology of Culture; Documentation and Information Activities.
On August 31, 2006, by the decision of the Academic Council, the Institute of Social and Cultural Communications and Management was established on the basis of the Faculty of Humanities.
The Institute trained specialists at the following levels: "Bachelor," "Specialist," and "Master." Its structure included the following departments:
- Department of Management and Economics
- Department of Information Technology Management and Standardization
- Department of Theory, History, and Practice of Culture
- Department of Social Sciences
- Department of Ukrainian and Foreign Languages
By order of the Rector in 2011, the Institute of Social and Cultural Communications and Management was renamed the Institute of Management, which in August 2015 became the Institute of Practical Cultural Studies and Art Management.
The new structure included:
- Department of Art Expertise
- Department of Cultural Studies and Cultural-Art Projects
- Department of Art Management and Event Technologies
- Center for Cultural Values Expertise
The Institute provided professional training in both full-time and part-time modes in the following specialties:
- 023 Fine Arts, Decorative Arts, Restoration
- 028 Management of Socio-Cultural Activities (specialization – Leisure Industry Management)
- 034 Cultural Studies
- 073 Management
Today, about 400 undergraduate and 99 postgraduate students study at the Institute in both full-time and part-time programs.
Bachelor's and Master's training is provided in four specialties:
- 023 Fine Arts, Decorative Arts, Restoration
- 028 Management of Socio-Cultural Activities
- 029 Information, Library, and Archival Studies
- 034 Cultural Studies
Over its existence, the Institute of Practical Cultural Studies and Art Management has graduated more than 15,000 experienced, highly qualified specialists in the fields of culture and arts.
The faculty of the Institute are members of specialized Academic Councils for the defense of doctoral and candidate dissertations.
The team of the Institute, preserving and multiplying the glorious traditions of the past, is constantly working to improve the educational process, advance scientific research, and train scientific personnel for Ukrainian science.
